Here's the commentary report:

'24 January 2009 - SASS Astro Turf

After missing out on Jim Weir Cup competiton on 16 January 2009 , this friendly game was organized given that this was a rest week for clubs involved in the domestic league. A very young SAA U35 side came out against a equally young ORA U35 who clearly had strength in numbers.

Right off the bat , ORA U35 showed their running intentions looking to spin the ball wide at every opportunity. Poor defence and a lack of communication saw SAA U35 conceeded a try 10 minutes in from a backline move. 5-0 it stood till the end of the 1st 20 minutes period , where despite great and roboust defending from SAA , ORA powered through for another try through the backs - 10-0 as a short break beconed.

The 2nd period saw great heart from SAA , with Tee Liang Shern , Khairul Hilmi and Christopher Cheng being great all over the park. The recently graduated centre pairing of Daryl Chia and Hasif were great. SAA came back with a great forward try narrowing the lead to 10-7 after a great conversion. SAA were starting to play well and great anticipation from Daryl Chia saw him intercept the ball and run 50m for a try under the post. The conversion made it 14-0 to the saints as the 3rd period beckoned.

The 3rd period saw SAA looking dangerous and hungry to breach the ORA line , but small mistakes and great defending saw the line protected. A lapse in defence saw ORA score 2 quick tries , and with that the game ended 20-14 to ORA.

All in all it was a great friendly played in the right spirit and with talk that the official Jim Weir Cup to come post league season , the SAA U35 will look to be better prepared and stocked for that game.

Thanks for all those who played and came and supported!'
